Speakers and Panels
B2B Sales Certificate
During our last B2B Sales Certificate, over 85 students participated in an interactive question & answer panel regarding topics such as, prospecting clients and closing sales. We had seven companies offer our students insight in B2B Sales and the various careers in the B2B sales industry. These students were then given the opportunity to network with representatives from J.J. Keller, Impact Networking, Aerotek, TEK Systems, ABC Supply, Sherwin-Williams, and Milwaukee Tools. They were more than happy to share personal experiences, as well as inform students of potential opportunities at their companies.
AMA’s retail certificate was held on Wednesday, February 14. This certificate included a retail panel of speakers from Target, Kohl's, and Steinhafels. Next, we split off into two breakout sessions where students learned all about retail marketing and some of its responsibilities from real world professionals. It was also a great opportunity to learn about each company, network, and find out more about possible internships and full-time jobs.
Career Sales Certificate:
During our Career Sales Certificate, students are first exposed to a Sales Institute Career Fair. Next, a panel of representations from a number of different companies inform students of the number of different sales and retail management careers available. They also provide an understanding of what each of these sales careers are like and how to best prepare for entering the workforce after graduation.
Digital Marketing Certificate
In the past, the Digital Marketing Certificate has featured two companies, AcuRite and Lands' End. These companies gave students a general overview of digital marketing in each of their companies. These representatives also shared their company's online marketing expertise, as well as the customer insights they encounter. Be sure to attend the next Digital Marketing Certificate.
Financial Services Certificate
Our Financial Services Certificate was a campus wide event held on November 9, 2016. This year we had representatives from Northwestern Mutual, Federated Insurance, Marine Credit Union, and BMO Harris. Each of these companies gave students a glimpse of their company’s vision for the future, touched on the financial and sales skills that they look for in their employees, and gave students an idea of what these companies do on a daily basis. This certificate was a great networking opportunity and gave students the chance to find out more about internships and full-time job opportunities within each of the companies.
Sports Marketing Certificate
Students are creating plans and working on a variety of different events to earn the Sports Marketing Certificate. One of these events includes touring and learning about the marketing for the NBA team, Milwaukee Bucks. They have also been planning various activities during sporting events for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's on-campus sports marketing committee, Purple Reign. When they are not busy organizing events for UW-Whitewater's National Champion teams, they are working on welcoming various sports marketing speakers to our campus.
Logistics and Transportation Certificate
Students will be learning about the logistics side of business and will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as develop connections with the company attending the certificate. While this is not one of the larger majors or programs at Whitewater, it is still a very important part of business practice and will be a very beneficial experience.
